About Squoosh

Squoosh is an open source image compressor from the Chrome team that runs entirely in your browser. It offers modern codecs like WebP and AVIF with a live side-by-side quality slider, so you see exactly what each byte costs.

Best for: Use this when you want to hand-tune the compression of a single image with a visual before-and-after.

Pros

  • Processes images locally in the browser, nothing is uploaded
  • Side-by-side quality comparison with a draggable divider
  • Supports modern codecs like WebP and AVIF

Cons

  • One image at a time, there is no batch mode
  • Compression only, no cropping or editing
